How to Remove Wax from Your Wax Melt Burner

How to Remove Wax from Your Wax Melt Burner?

It’s super lovely when the wax melts are melting and producing sensational fragrances. It’s annoying when it’s time to remove the wax and clean the wax burner. Don’t worry; it’s not that difficult if you know exactly how to do it.

Many times cleaning a wax burner becomes messy because the wax gets stuck to the burner plate. And when you try removing it, you can even end up breaking the warmer if you use too much force.

How To Remove Wax Melts From Your Burner

Hot Method (Liquid Method)

Wouldn’t it be easier if you could just remove the wax while it’s in liquid form? Yes, it definitely is!

Start the wax burner and let the wax melt into liquid form. Shut the heat source off (tealight of electric heating).

Now, while the wax is still in a liquid state, take cotton balls or a paper towel and place it on the plate with melted wax. Let the cotton balls or paper towel absorb all that wax.

Remove the cotton balls or paper towel and discard them. Use another paper towel to wipe the plate clean.

Keep in mind that all this while the warmer would still be warm, so better be careful. You can even wear gloves to be more cautious.

Cold Method (Solid Method)

The cold method is the opposite of the hot method. Here you don’t need to melt the wax, rather freeze it.

Just put the wax burner or just the plate, if it’s removable, into the freezer. Let it sit in there for at least 15 minutes. Don’t put it in while the wax is still hot. First, let it solidify at ambient temperature, then keep it in the freezer.

When it’s kept in the freezer at such a low temperature, the wax doesn’t just solidify, it also contracts.

After 15 minutes, take it out and just pull out the wax. It will come out easily in one piece without leaving any flakes behind. Still, wipe the plate with a paper towel to clean the plate of any remnants.

Use a Wax Warmer Liner

Nowadays, you can even use a wax liner with your wax warmer to ensure the wax doesn’t stick to the burner. Just place the sheet on the plate before putting in the wax melts. Once you’ve used it and the wax is partially solid, remove the liner. That’s it!

This works just how a baking sheet or parchment paper works when you’re baking muffins or cupcakes.

The Bottom line

Removing wax from the wax burner and cleaning it is not so difficult using any of the above methods. Don’t let the wax sit in there for too long, and just remove it once it’s stopped producing fragrance.

For ease of cleaning, go with wax burners with a removable plate. Also, avoid using any sharp utensils for scraping off any wax as it can lead to scratches on the plate or may even break the burner.
